Rakell Visits Young Penguins Fan During Season-Ticket Deliveries
Pittsburgh forward Rickard Rakell surprised 13-year-old Tyler Cranden as the club thanked season-ticket holders ahead of the new season.
Rickard Rakell surprised 13-year-old Penguins fan Tyler Cranden during Pittsburgh's annual season-ticket deliveries, the club reported Sunday. Players bring packages to selected ticket holders before the new season to thank them for their support.
Tyler had saved up to buy a Rakell jersey. When the forward arrived at the family's home, he signed it and spent time answering Tyler's questions. The young fan told Rakell about a sign he had made for games, and Rakell encouraged him to bring it back to the glass this season.
The visit carried a family connection: Tyler's grandfather held Penguins season tickets for more than 30 years before passing them to his daughters. The family attended every game of Pittsburgh's playoff series against Philadelphia last spring after initially planning to go to only the first and last, according to the team's account.
