The Columbus Blue Jackets activated Ivan Provorov from injured reserve Saturday ahead of their visit to the Dallas Stars, the club announced. The defenceman is expected to make his season debut after a lower-body injury kept him out of Columbus’ first 11 games.

Columbus said Provorov sustained the injury in a preseason game in Detroit on Sept. 26. His return could leave the Blue Jackets using seven defencemen and 11 forwards, according to NHL.com’s game preview.

Dallas also expects reinforcements. David Perron is set to play his first game for the Stars after signing a one-year contract on Oct. 16. Esa Lindell is returning to the defence after a lower-body injury cost him five games.
