Providence Bruins Say Alexis Gendron Had Back Surgery in August

Providence Bruins forward Alexis Gendron underwent back surgery on Aug. 25 and will be re-evaluated in about two months, the team announced Wednesday.

In a statement, head team physician Dr. Michael Belanger said Gendron sustained a lower-back injury during offseason training and underwent a successful discectomy. Dr. Dominic Kleinhenz performed the procedure at University Orthopedics in Rhode Island.

The Bruins did not announce a return date. Their statement said Gendron will be re-evaluated in approximately two months.
