Penguins select Sergei Murashov for opening NHL roster
After two seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the goaltender is set to open 2026-27 in Pittsburgh alongside Arturs Silovs.
Sergei Murashov will begin the 2026-27 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins after finishing training camp as one of the team's final two goaltenders, the club reported Sunday. Arturs Silovs is the other goalie Pittsburgh identified.
Murashov spent most of last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, starting all 15 of their Calder Cup playoff games and posting a 2.11 goals-against average and .931 save percentage. He also made his NHL debut last season.
The roster place marks a change from his first two Penguins training camps, which both ended with an assignment to the minors. Murashov called making the opening roster “a nice feeling that all the work has paid off.”
