Parekh Sets Up Two as Flames Beat Canucks 3-1 in Preseason

Zayne Parekh had two assists Tuesday as the Calgary Flames beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 in a preseason game at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary outshot Vancouver 30-9.

The 20-year-old defenseman was credited with assists on Joel Farabee's power-play goal and Sam Honzek's rebound goal. On the latter play, Parekh drove toward the net and had his shot stopped before Honzek finished the rebound. Matt Coronato scored Calgary's other goal.

Parekh registered four shots on goal among nine attempts, according to Sportsnet. The outlet also described a first-period move past Kirill Kudryavtsev and a four-on-four shift in which Parekh found Ryan Strome for a chance from the slot.

Matvei Gridin, playing with Coronato and Morgan Frost, helped set up Farabee and started the passing play that led to Coronato's goal. The Flames dressed a lineup heavy with expected regulars, while Vancouver used several younger players.
