Panthers recall Cole Schwindt, loan Sam Lafferty to AHL
Florida swaps forwards as Schwindt comes up from the Charlotte Checkers and Lafferty heads down after five games.
The Florida Panthers have recalled forward Cole Schwindt from the Charlotte Checkers, the club announced Monday. In a corresponding move, forward Sam Lafferty has been loaned to the AHL.
Schwindt has three points (one goal, two assists) in five games with Charlotte this season. He played 29 games with Florida in 2025-26 and had seven points (five goals, two assists). Across 78 career NHL games, he has 15 points (six goals, nine assists).
The Panthers signed him to a two-year contract extension on July 1. General manager Bill Zito spoke about him at the time.
"He's a really hard-working guy," Zito said. "You don't know who the next guy to get a chance is. He's working his tail off and trying to be as ready as he can for what's up next."
Lafferty was originally recalled on Oct. 3 and dressed in five games for Florida.
The Panthers are 5-2-2 and riding a three-game winning streak. They open a four-game road trip Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators at 7:30 p.m. ET.
