Oilers trade Stastney to Penguins for Hallander
Edmonton adds centre Filip Hallander, while Pittsburgh acquires defenceman Spencer Stastney and his $1.525-million cap hit.
Edmonton and Pittsburgh exchanged Filip Hallander and Spencer Stastney on Wednesday, Oct. 7, the two clubs announced. Hallander joins the Oilers; Stastney moves to the Penguins.
Hallander, 26, brings three points from his first two appearances of the season. The centre has seven points in 18 NHL games, along with 62 points over 107 AHL games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Pittsburgh drafted him in the second round in 2018.
Stastney, also 26, is under contract for the rest of 2026-27 at an average annual value of $1.525 million. He played 66 games between Nashville and Edmonton last season, finishing with two goals and eight assists. His NHL career totals stand at four goals and 15 assists across 117 games.
