Nick Blankenburg is set to play his first game for the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Oct. 10. Sportsnet reported the debut, and the NHL's projected lineup includes him as Toronto's seventh defenceman.

Toronto plans to dress 11 forwards and seven defencemen. Coach Jim Hiller had not announced his starting goaltender at the time of Sportsnet's report.

Toronto added the 28-year-old on Sept. 27 on a deal worth $1.4 million for one season, Sportsnet reported. He ended last season with Colorado after a trade from Nashville, making his Leafs debut a meeting with his former team.

Blankenburg has 18 goals and 40 assists for 58 points in 176 regular-season NHL games, according to the league's player record.
