Moose rebound against Iowa behind Milne’s two goals
Manitoba finished its two-game AHL pre-season set with a 4-1 win after a 3-0 loss in the opener.
The Manitoba Moose finished their two-game AHL pre-season trip to St. Paul with a 4-1 win over the Iowa Wild on Saturday, a day after losing the opener 3-0. Michael Milne (Mikey) scored twice in the win, including an empty-net goal, while Deni Goure and Chase Yoder also scored.
Isaac Poulter made 19 saves on 20 shots, according to Iowa’s game report. The Moose scored once in four power plays and killed all six Iowa opportunities.
The series gave several players their first appearances for Manitoba, including Milne, Goure, Evan Nause and Dysin Mayo. Kevin He, a Winnipeg Jets draft pick preparing for his first professional season, played in both games. Moose coach Mark Morrison said the team learned about its players from the two games and praised He’s pace and work with the puck.
Manitoba opens its regular season at home against the Chicago Wolves on Oct. 3.
