Connor McDavid finished a five-goal second period for the Edmonton Oilers at Honda Center on Wednesday, Oct. 7, scoring with 52 seconds remaining to put them ahead of the Anaheim Ducks 5-2.

With both teams skating four-on-four, McDavid beat Lukas Dostal off the rush. Leon Draisaitl and Mattias Ekholm assisted on the goal, which completed Edmonton’s response to a 2-0 first-period deficit.

Beckett Sennecke had scored twice on the power play for Anaheim. Evan Bouchard began the Oilers’ comeback just 11 seconds into the second period. Kasperi Kapanen then tied the score on the power play before Bouchard’s second goal put Edmonton in front.

Vasily Podkolzin extended the lead on a breakaway, and McDavid supplied the fifth unanswered goal. Draisaitl assisted on four of Edmonton’s five goals in the period.

The Oilers led 5-2 at the second intermission, having scored five times on 10 shots in the middle frame.
