Matt Roy questionable, Dubois out as Capitals host Devils
Washington has uncertainty on defence and at centre ahead of Saturday’s home game against New Jersey.
Matt Roy’s availability remains uncertain as the Washington Capitals prepare to host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Capital One Arena. Coach Spencer Carbery said the defenceman is questionable after missing five games with a lower-body injury, NHL.com reported Friday.
Roy took a full part in Friday’s practice. Centre Pierre-Luc Dubois did not practise and will miss a fourth consecutive game because of illness. Carbery said Justin Sourdif was also ill, leaving his availability unsettled.
New Jersey arrives looking for a third consecutive win after beating the New York Rangers 7-1 on Thursday. Luke Hughes scored twice in that game, and the Devils improved to 4-3-0.
The Devils said they will skip a morning skate because of the afternoon start. Coach Sheldon Keefe is due to meet reporters before the game, with lineup updates still to come.
