Marlies extend captain Logan Shaw through 2027-28

The one-year extension was signed Thursday, ahead of Toronto opening its Calder Cup defence in Rochester.

The Toronto Marlies have signed captain Logan Shaw to a one-year contract extension that keeps him with the club through at least the 2027-28 season. The AHL reported on Oct. 2 that he signed the agreement Thursday, Oct. 1.

The extension comes as Toronto begins its Calder Cup defence. The Marlies open the regular season in Rochester on Friday, then raise their championship banner before Saturday's home opener.

Toronto defeated the Chicago Wolves in five games in the 2026 Calder Cup Finals. Steve Sullivan takes over as head coach after John Gruden moved to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The AHL's season preview also lists goaltender Artur Akhtyamov and forward Vinni Lettieri among the returning members of Toronto's championship roster.
