Maple Leafs visit family of Blues prospect Matthew Mayich in Arizona

Toronto Maple Leafs players visited the family of Matthew Mayich during their Arizona trip, Sportsnet reported. Before Saturday's practice at Mullett Arena, players wore caps marked with his initials and No. 27 and shirts bearing his photo, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Mayich, an Arizona State defenceman, has been in hospital since collapsing during an outdoor team workout on Aug. 20. The St. Louis Blues selected him 170th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, and he remains unsigned.
The Maple Leafs are using a break in their schedule for practice in Arizona before returning to Toronto for their regular-season opener against Montreal on Tuesday.
