Maple Leafs sign Brendan Brisson to one-year deal
The former Golden Knights first-round pick arrives in Toronto after a 37-point season with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Brendan Brisson to a one-year contract.
Brisson, 24, spent 2025-26 with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, where he put up 19 goals and 37 points in 66 games. Both figures were second on the team. He was Hartford's representative at the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic and also got into three games with the New York Rangers, recording one assist.
He is a fifth-year pro out of the University of Michigan. Across 244 AHL games split between Hartford and Henderson, Brisson has 66 goals and 79 assists for 145 points. His NHL resume is thinner: two goals and seven assists in 27 games between the Rangers and Vegas.
Vegas took him 29th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, and that first-round pedigree has followed him through a career that has so far been more productive one league down. The one-year term is the tell. Brisson gets a fresh organization and a chance to force his way into the conversation, and Toronto gets a scorer who has proven he can do it at the AHL level without much risk attached.
