Maple Leafs in reported talks with Blue Jackets over Marchenko
Friedman reported Toronto had permission to discuss an extension with Marchenko during Monday’s trade talks.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Monday that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets are negotiating a possible trade involving Kirill Marchenko. Friedman said Columbus has permitted Toronto to speak with the forward about a potential contract extension.
At the time of the report, the teams had not announced a deal. Sportsnet reports that Marchenko is entering the final season of his three-year, $11.5-million contract and had 67 points in 76 games last season. The report says he has indicated that he does not intend to sign another contract with Columbus.
