Mammoth send Iginla, Desnoyers and three others to Tucson
Utah assigned five players to its AHL affiliate Friday and put three more on waivers so they can join the Roadrunners.
The Utah Mammoth assigned forwards Tij Iginla, Caleb Desnoyers, Yegor Borikov and Gabe Smith and goaltender Michael Hrabal to the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners on Friday, the club said in its training-camp notebook.
Utah also placed forwards Brandon Tanev and Joshua Roy and defenceman Zac Jones on waivers for the purpose of assigning them to Tucson. Later Friday, the Mammoth sent Tomas Lavoie to the Roadrunners as well.
Iginla was Utah's sixth overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, while Desnoyers went fourth overall in 2025. Both attended the Mammoth's training camp this month, and the assignments give both forwards a chance to begin their professional careers in Tucson.
Iginla scored 41 goals and added 49 assists in 48 games with the WHL's Kelowna Rockets last season. Desnoyers recorded 22 goals and 56 assists in 45 games with the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats.
The Mammoth close the preseason Saturday with their first home exhibition game at the renovated Delta Center.
