Luostarinen Returns to Panthers Camp Stronger After Extended Summer
The Florida forward used the longer offseason to add strength, then returned to a familiar line with Anton Lundell and a new stallmate in Brady Tkachuk.
Eetu Luostarinen was back on the ice Friday for the second day of Florida Panthers training camp at Baptist Health IcePlex. After a longer-than-usual break, the 28-year-old forward said he was eager to begin the 2026-27 season.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion used the extra time with his family and increased his training workload. Luostarinen said the longer summer let him build strength rather than simply maintain his conditioning between seasons.
He enters camp with an eight-year extension signed July 1 that begins in 2027-28 and keeps him under contract through 2034-35. Luostarinen said the commitment from Florida's ownership and management gives him stability as he prepares for the season.
Anton Lundell remains a familiar linemate. Luostarinen said their three years together have built trust on the ice, and speaking Finnish makes communication easier. Offseason acquisition Brady Tkachuk now has the locker-room stall next to his. Luostarinen described the new teammate as a hard-working, physical player who has been easy to get to know.
Luostarinen recorded 33 points, including 11 goals and 22 assists, in 73 games last season. Coach Paul Maurice praised his commitment to the demanding parts of Florida's game, saying the forward does not abandon that work to chase more points.
