Lambert weighs Kraken line tweaks before preseason finale
Seattle's coach liked the Beniers line's speed but wants better forechecking cohesion when the Kraken visit Vancouver on Saturday.
Seattle Kraken coach Lane Lambert wants his regulars to find more cohesion in Saturday's preseason finale at the Vancouver Canucks. After Thursday's shootout win over Calgary, he said Seattle improved as the game went on but showed rust early, according to the club's game preview.
Lambert liked the speed of the line with Matty Beniers, Mackie Samoskevich and Jared McCann. He would prefer some lineup continuity in Vancouver but left room for small changes. Lambert also said Berkly Catton, Shane Wright and Kaapo Kakko were disconnected on the forecheck and needed to work more closely together in the finale and next week's practices.
The coach saw progress in the third period and overtime against Calgary and welcomed the extra three-on-three time. "We have to prepare to go (Saturday) and to find that rhythm," he told the Kraken's website.
