Kyrou's overtime power-play goal lifts Capitals past Bruins
Kyrou scored 11 seconds into overtime, completing Washington's three-for-three power-play night in a 3-2 preseason win.
Jordan Kyrou scored on the power play 11 seconds into overtime to give the Washington Capitals a 3-2 preseason win over the Boston Bruins at Capital One Arena on Friday. Washington converted all three of its power-play chances.
The Capitals began overtime with 13 seconds left on a four-on-three advantage. Kyrou exchanged passes with Jakob Chychrun before shooting from the left circle past Jeremy Swayman. Alex Tuch screened the Boston goaltender.
"Our plan was to get in the zone as quick as possible and just try to attack," Kyrou told the Capitals' website.
Dylan Strome put Washington ahead at 18:04 of the first period, and Tom Wilson made it 2-0 at 1:39 of the second. Both goals came on the power play, with Pierre-Luc Dubois assisting on each.
Boston tied the game early in the third on goals by Morgan Geekie at 3:40 and David Pastrnak at 5:56. Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson stopped an Elias Lindholm breakaway later in the period to keep the game level.
