Kypreos Trade Board: Hellebuyck, Larkin Want Out, GMs Are Stuck

Nick Kypreos published his first trade board of the 2026-27 season, and the headline names on it are two players who signed long and now want out: Connor Hellebuyck in Winnipeg and Dylan Larkin in Detroit.

Both have five years remaining and full no-trade protection, and both have publicly acknowledged they would like to move on. That combination leaves their general managers with very little room. Kypreos writes that Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is boxed in by Hellebuyck's no-move clause and a thin goalie market, and that Buffalo, Utah and San Jose are monitoring the situation while pushing Winnipeg to take prospects rather than roster players. One executive's read on the price, per the column: "He's 33, with a reputation for not delivering in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so it's challenging to match a return value with his current and future value."

Detroit's file is being handled by interim GM Shawn Horcoff. According to Kypreos, Montreal made a run at convincing Larkin to come, but he has no interest in playing in Canada. Kypreos says the Canadiens have since turned their attention to Mark Scheifele, with Michael Hage, Oliver Kapanen and Kirby Dach all wrapped up in the conversation.

Larkin is currently injured, which Kypreos expects will stretch both situations into a holding pattern while clubs evaluate their own rosters coming out of camp.

Kypreos also lists Kirill Marchenko, whom he says wants out of Columbus and carries no trade protection. His current three-year contract runs through the 2026-27 season. Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal are named as interested.

Also on the board: Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson in Vancouver, and the unsigned Quinn Hughes in Minnesota.
