Kraken visit Detroit without injured defenceman Ryan Lindgren
Seattle faces the Red Wings on Friday with a depleted defence and projected lines led by Matty Beniers and Chandler Stephenson.
The Seattle Kraken visit the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, Oct. 9, without defenceman Ryan Lindgren, who is on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. The club's official preview puts his expected absence at four to six weeks.
Seattle enters the game at 2-2-0, while Detroit is 1-2-0. The game at Little Caesars Arena starts at 7 p.m. ET, or 4 p.m. PT, according to the NHL's game listing.
The Kraken's projected lineup has Matty Beniers at centre with Jared McCann and Mackie Samoskevich on his wings. Chandler Stephenson is listed between Bobby McMann and Jordan Eberle. Seattle cautioned that the lineup was not official.
With Lindgren unavailable, the club said it would continue using a combination of Cale Fleury, Josh Mahura and Ville Ottavainen on the bottom defence pairing. Seattle's preview identifies its defensive coverage and penalty killing as areas tested by Lindgren's absence.
Eberle has recorded a point in each of Seattle's first four games, and McCann leads the club in points, according to the Kraken. They will try to help Seattle respond after Tuesday's home loss to Vegas, when both Kraken goals came in the third period.
Detroit comes into Friday's game after beating Ottawa on Tuesday for its first win of the season.
