Kings Grab First Preseason Win, 2-1 Over Ducks
Two goals in 41 seconds late in the first period turned a deficit into a lead in Anaheim on Wednesday night.
The Kings won their first game of the 2026 preseason on Wednesday night, beating the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 at Honda Center on the back of a 41-second burst at the end of the opening period.
Anaheim had the lead first. Midway through the first, a neutral-zone turnover by Kings forward Martin Chromiak sent the Ducks the other way on the rush. Anton Forsberg got a pad on the initial shot, but Los Angeles couldn't clear the rebound and Ethan Procyzsyn buried it for 1-0.
With 64 seconds left in the period, Andre Lee forced a turnover at his own blueline and took off on a 2-on-1. His shot missed the net, but Alex Laferriere converted the carom off the endboards for his first of the preseason.
Forty-one seconds later the Kings had the lead. Defenceman Drew Doughty hit Joel Armia with a stretch pass on another 2-on-1, and Armia kept it himself, going top shelf over the glove.
That was the scoring. Neither side found the net over the final 40 minutes, with Forsberg holding the one-goal margin for Peter Laviolette's group through the third.
