Jets reunite original Winnipeg and Atlanta records in NHL history
The NHL's updated statistics put Dale Hawerchuk back atop the Jets' goals and points lists, with Mark Scheifele close behind.
The Winnipeg Jets and NHL have combined three eras in the club's official statistical history: the original Winnipeg Jets from 1979 to 1996, the Atlanta Thrashers from 1999 to 2011 and the current Winnipeg team, which began play in 2011-12. The Jets announced the change Thursday and said the updated records are reflected on NHL.com, the NHL app and the club's website.
The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996. Their statistics had remained with the Coyotes after the Thrashers relocated to Winnipeg in 2011. Under the new record book, the inactive Coyotes' statistical history covers only their Arizona seasons from 1996 to 2024.
Dale Hawerchuk now leads the Jets' combined history with 379 goals and 929 points. Thomas Steen holds the assists record with 553. Current Jets forward Mark Scheifele enters 2026-27 with 372 goals, 535 assists and 907 points, putting all three marks within reach, according to the Jets' announcement.
Jets executive chairman Mark Chipman said the change brings the records into line with how generations of Winnipeg fans have regarded the team's past.
