What's newWinnipeg also placed Josh Morrissey on injured reserve, with another assessment planned in one to two weeks.

Brayden Yager is returning to the Winnipeg Jets after the NHL club recalled him from the Manitoba Moose on Monday, Oct. 19. Winnipeg also placed defenceman Josh Morrissey on injured reserve.

Morrissey remains out week to week. Coach Scott Arniel said Monday that the Jets plan to reassess him in another week or two, rather than setting a return date. Forward Vladislav Namestnikov is also out week to week, and Arniel said the club wanted another centre available for its road trip.

Yager has scored five goals and added four assists in six AHL appearances this season. His most recent goal decided Sunday’s 4-3 overtime win over the Texas Stars.

Arniel said Yager’s strong training camp and his play with Manitoba helped earn the opportunity. Yager credited Moose coach Mark Morrison with giving him the ice time to lead the offence.

The centre appeared in three games for Winnipeg last season and did not record a point. The Jets next visit the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday; Sportsnet reported that Yager could make his NHL season debut in that game.
