Jets host Ducks with Morrissey's status in question
Winnipeg awaits an update on Josh Morrissey as rookie Viggo Björck continues to adjust to the NHL.
The Winnipeg Jets host the Anaheim Ducks on Friday at 7 p.m. CT, with Josh Morrissey's availability still uncertain after the defenceman left Wednesday's game against Colorado with an upper-body injury.
The Jets said they expected to have more information after their 10:30 a.m. CT morning skate. Friday's matchup is Winnipeg's fifth game in eight nights. The club is coming off a 3-2 win over the Avalanche, with late goals from Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele.
Rookie centre Viggo Björck is still looking for his first NHL point after four games. The 18-year-old said he is becoming more comfortable as he gets used to the league's pace and tighter spaces on the smaller ice surface.
Assistant coach Davis Payne said on Thursday that the Jets have tried to limit the amount of new information Björck has to absorb. Payne praised the rookie's ability to adjust quickly and his awareness at both ends of the ice, adding that he expects the offence to follow.
