Jesse and J.T. Compher Look Ahead to Shared Detroit Season

Jesse and J.T. Compher are preparing for a season that will bring them both to Detroit. Jesse signed a three-year contract with the city's expansion PWHL team in June, while J.T. is entering his fourth season with the Red Wings. When the PWHL club begins play, they are set to become the first siblings on NHL and PWHL teams in the same city.

In an NHLPA interview published Friday, J.T. said the move will let him watch more of Jesse's games. He described her as a hard competitor and said sharing a city with her is a career highlight. Jesse said her older brother has been a steady source of advice through the ups and downs of hockey.

Both are training in Illinois this offseason. J.T. said Jesse skates with a professional group in Chicago and works alongside him in the gym. Their parents, Bob and Valerie, also live in the area; the siblings expect the move to make it easier for their family to see them both play.

Jesse spent her first three PWHL seasons with Toronto after the Sceptres selected her in the fifth round of the inaugural 2023 draft. She appeared in all 84 of the club's regular-season games and all nine of its playoff games over that span. Detroit added her in the second phase of the league's expansion roster process, and her deal runs through 2028-29.

The PWHL team will play at Little Caesars Arena, where Jesse watched J.T.'s first home game with the Red Wings. She said she remembers the noise of that opening night and is eager to experience Detroit's fans from the ice. J.T., a 2022 Stanley Cup champion with Colorado, signed with Detroit in 2023.
