Islanders Waive Ethan Bear for Possible Hamilton Assignment

The defenseman is on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL; he has not yet cleared.

The New York Islanders placed defenseman Ethan Bear on waivers Tuesday for the purpose of assigning him to their AHL affiliate in Hamilton, the club announced. Bear has not yet cleared waivers or been assigned.

Bear recorded four goals and 23 assists for 27 points in 40 games with Bridgeport last season. The 28-year-old right-shot defenseman signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders in June for 2026-27.

The Islanders also placed goaltender Henrik Tikkanen on waivers for assignment and directly assigned 12 other players to Hamilton as they reduced their training-camp roster.
