Islanders lose Maccelli and Ritchie to lower-body injuries in Toronto
Both Islanders forwards left in the first period of Saturday’s game against the Maple Leafs.
Matias Maccelli and Calum Ritchie left the New York Islanders’ game in Toronto on Saturday, Oct. 17, with lower-body injuries and did not return, Sportsnet reported.
Ritchie departed after his first shift. Maccelli left at 16:36 of the opening period after a trip by Darren Raddysh sent him down awkwardly on his left knee, according to the NHL’s game report. Teammates helped Maccelli off the ice.
Sportsnet reported that Ritchie was hurt on an early hit by Nick Blankenburg. Neither report provided a timetable for either player’s return.
