Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal out against Flyers with lower-body injury
The Carolina captain missed his first game of the season after playing in Saturday’s win in Chicago.
Jordan Staal was ruled out of Carolina's visit to the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, Oct. 11, with a lower-body injury, Sportsnet reported. The NHL's updated lineup report lists the Hurricanes captain as a late scratch.
The absence is Staal's first of the season. He played 14:12 in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks; Sportsnet reported that the timing of the injury was unclear.
Staal, 38, entered Sunday with no points in six games. Carolina arrived in Philadelphia with a 4-1-1 record and four consecutive wins.
