Hurricanes assign Noel Fransen to Chicago Wolves

Carolina sent its 2024 third-round pick to its AHL affiliate and reduced its training-camp roster to 27 players.

The Carolina Hurricanes assigned defenceman Noel Fransen to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL on Saturday, general manager Eric Tulsky announced. The move reduced Carolina’s training-camp roster to 27 players.

The Hurricanes now have 16 forwards, eight defencemen and three goaltenders in camp. Fransen was Carolina’s third-round pick, 69th overall, in the 2024 NHL Draft and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the club in May.

Fransen recorded six goals and eight assists in 38 games with BIK Karlskoga in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan during the 2025-26 season, according to Carolina’s contract announcement.
