New York Islanders captain Bo Horvat was being evaluated after a late hit by Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar in Thursday's 4-1 Islanders win at UBS Arena.

Horvat scored into an empty net at 18:27 of the third period. Nazar checked him in the head after the shot, and Horvat left the game, according to the NHL's official recap. The league's play-by-play records a five-minute match penalty against Nazar at the same time.

Islanders coach Peter DeBoer said after the game that Horvat was still being evaluated. No diagnosis or return timetable was provided in the club's postgame report.

The collision led to a confrontation between the teams. Chicago's Tyler Bertuzzi and New York's Logan Stanley each received a 10-minute misconduct, according to the official play-by-play.

Sportsnet quoted Islanders player Emil Heineman describing the hit as a cheap shot. Horvat's empty-net goal was his second of the game.
