Horcoff says Detroit has no interest in trading Edvinsson

Detroit Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said he has "zero interest in trading Simon Edvinsson" and wants to sign the defenceman, Sportsnet reported Wednesday, citing Max Bultman of The Athletic.

Edvinsson remains an unsigned restricted free agent, as Detroit radio station 97.1 The Ticket also reported Wednesday. He has not played for Detroit this season. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Oct. 3 that the player would prefer a trade.

Horcoff became Detroit’s interim general manager in September after Steve Yzerman stepped down in July, according to theScore. Edvinsson’s unresolved contract is one of the issues still facing the club.
