Highmore praises Aitcheson as Hammers prepare for weekend homestand

Hamilton Hammers captain Matthew Highmore praised defenceman Kashawn Aitcheson’s energy as the club prepared to host the Rochester Americans and Syracuse Crunch, according to an interview published by The Hamilton Spectator.

The Spectator reported that Aitcheson credited Highmore, Matt Luff, Hunter Drew and Ethan Bear with helping him settle into the team. Highmore also pointed to Hamilton’s ability to keep competing after falling behind early in a game.

The Hammers enter the weekend with a 1-2-0-1 record. Their official schedule lists Rochester at TD Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., followed by Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. Both times are local.

Hamilton is coming off a 5-2 home loss to the Toronto Marlies on Oct. 11. Cameron Berg and Highmore scored for the Hammers, according to the club’s account of that game.
