Hellebuyck has won his first two starts since New Jersey acquired him from Winnipeg on Oct. 23. He allowed three goals on 39 shots against Dallas and Vegas, posting a 1.50 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. RotoWire also reported those two victories and shot totals.
McDavid enters Tuesday with 39 points — nine goals and 30 assists — in a season-opening 15-game point streak. He has collected 51 points, including 11 goals and 40 assists, in 32 NHL games against Hellebuyck, according to NHL.com.
Speaking to NHL.com, Hellebuyck said he is still learning how his teammates communicate on the ice. Recognizing their voices helps him identify where they are during play.
He credited the Devils with limiting opponents’ space and using back pressure to force turnovers. His home debut remains a possibility rather than a confirmed starting assignment.
