The Pittsburgh Penguins designated David Gustafsson non-roster ahead of Saturday's home opener against the Montreal Canadiens. NHL.com reported that the centre will be placed on waivers, a change from the club's morning preview, which had listed him as a possible debutant.
Andrei Kuzmenko is set to make his Penguins debut against Montreal, according to NHL.com's projected-lineup report.
Pittsburgh's first home game of the season is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at PPG Paints Arena. The club will mark its 60th anniversary season with a pregame ceremony, and fans are asked to be seated by 6:45 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
