Griffins Sign Tag Bertuzzi to One-Year AHL Contract

The Grand Rapids Griffins signed forward Tag Bertuzzi to a one-year AHL contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Bertuzzi, 25, is the son of former NHL forward Todd Bertuzzi and a younger cousin of former Griffin Tyler Bertuzzi. He split the 2025-26 season between the AHL's Utica Comets, appearing in 14 games, and the ECHL's Adirondack Thunder, where he posted 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 38 games.

The Griffins open their 2026-27 schedule on October 2 at Cleveland before hosting Manitoba for their home opener on October 9 at Van Andel Arena. Grand Rapids is coming off a franchise-record season in 2025-26, according to thehockeynews.com.

The move gives the Griffins another forward option as they prepare for their 31st season overall and 26th as Detroit's AHL affiliate. Grand Rapids will play a 72-game schedule that includes four meetings with the expansion Hamilton Hammers and a season-high five-game homestand from January 9-20.
