Griffins beat Monsters 5-2 to finish preseason

The Grand Rapids Griffins finished their AHL preseason with a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Monsters on Sunday at Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. Five Griffins scored, according to the club's game report.
Ondrej Becher had a goal and two assists. Noah Dower Nilsson added a goal and an assist, Jesse Kiiskinen had two assists, and rookie goaltender Trey Augustine stopped 23 of 25 shots.
Ronnie Attard opened the scoring at 9:28 of the first period, and Dylan James made it 2-0 at 9:08 of the second. Luca Pinelli answered for Cleveland at 14:47, before Dower Nilsson scored on the power play at 16:45 to restore Grand Rapids' two-goal lead.
Grand Rapids scored twice more in the third, while Dante Sheriff had Cleveland's other goal. The Griffins went 1-for-4 on the power play and held the Monsters to 0-for-2. Cleveland outshot Grand Rapids 25-24.
