Golden Knights Lock Up Captain Mark Stone Through 2028-29

Mark Stone isn't going anywhere. The Golden Knights captain signed a two-year, $18 million extension on Sept. 12 that carries a $9 million annual value and runs through the 2028-29 season, the team announced.
The new deal begins next season. Stone will play this year on the final season of his current contract at $9.5 million.
Stone, 34, is coming off a career-high-tying season: 73 points on 28 goals and 45 assists in 60 games, with 12 more points in 17 playoff games as Vegas reached the Stanley Cup Final before losing to Carolina in six.
He has played 400 games for the Golden Knights since the February 2019 trade that brought him over from Ottawa, where he spent his first seven seasons after being drafted in 2010. Vegas named him the franchise's first official captain on Jan. 13, 2021.
In 2023 he delivered the signature performance of his career, a hat trick in the Cup-clinching Game 5 of the 2023 Final. Over 15 NHL seasons Stone has 259 goals and 448 assists.
Injuries have been the recurring theme of his time in Vegas, but he has appeared in at least 60 games in each of the past two seasons. With Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner also in the lineup, a healthy Stone gives the Golden Knights another shot at a long spring.
