The Vegas Golden Knights launched OneRealm on Wednesday, a programme intended to bring Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities closer to the NHL club.

The team plans to combine cultural events at games with community partnerships, dedicated content and introductory ball hockey activities. Ben Thomas, the club’s director of cultural marketing outreach, said the initiative would give more people opportunities to experience hockey and feel part of the Golden Knights community.

The first event is 9th Island Knight on Friday, Oct. 2, when Vegas hosts Anaheim at T-Mobile Arena. A virtual surfing competition and a hula performance are planned before the game. Filipino Heritage Knight follows on Thursday, Oct. 15, with further community activities planned during the season.

Las Vegas artist Jonathan “Swoopz” Suarez, who is of Filipino heritage, created the OneRealm logos and the designs for both themed nights.
