Genborg Looks Healthy Again in Sweden After AHL Playoff Injury

Eddie Genborg is back on the ice, and for a Red Wings prospect who spent the summer rehabbing, that alone counts as news.

Genborg, who has been recovering from an undisclosed injury suffered during the AHL playoffs, looked like himself in a Swedish Hockey League preseason game for Timra IK, according to Detroit Hockey Now. The expectation had been that he would be ready by the start of the SHL regular season on Sept. 19, and the preseason appearance points that direction.

He will not be at Detroit's training camp this fall.

Genborg's appeal has never been about scoring. He is a physical, hard forward, the kind who is unpleasant to play against, and he slots into a group of Red Wings prospects and young players with a similar edge.

Detroit Hockey Now also reported that Max Plante has been named a captain, adding to a growing list of reasons the organization likes him.

Meanwhile, in Grand Rapids, the Griffins' website currently lists 34 players signed with the club for 2026-27: 20 forwards, 10 defensemen and four goaltenders, per.
