Flyers Waive Six, Send Six More To Lehigh Valley
Carl Grundstrom and Jack Studnicka are among six Flyers placed on waivers as Philadelphia also assigns six players to Lehigh Valley.
The Philadelphia Flyers placed six players on waivers Wednesday and assigned six others to Lehigh Valley Phantoms training camp, the club announced. Philadelphia also returned forward Matthew Gard to the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds.
Forwards Zach Aston-Reese, Nolan Foote, Carl Grundstrom, Danila Klimovich and Jack Studnicka, along with defenceman Cam Dineen, make up the waiver group. Players who clear waivers can be assigned to the Phantoms; they have not yet been assigned.
Separately, the Flyers assigned forwards Noah Powell and Riley Thompson, defencemen Spencer Gill, Hunter McDonald and Ty Murchison, and goaltender Carson Bjarnason to Lehigh Valley.
Grundstrom had skated on the left side of Sean Couturier and Noel Acciari in Philadelphia's NHL practice group earlier Wednesday, according to Broad Street Hockey. Denver Barkey and Nikita Grebenkin were absent while working back from injuries, and Jett Luchanko and Cole Knuble had the day off after back-to-back preseason games.
The Flyers open the regular season Wednesday, Sept. 30, at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
