Flyers sign Michael Bunting to one-year, $1.2-million contract

The Philadelphia Flyers signed Michael Bunting to a one-year contract worth $1.2 million for the 2026-27 season, the club announced Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The 31-year-old forward recorded 14 goals and 19 assists in 74 games last season with the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars.

Bunting has 109 goals and 143 assists for 252 points in 418 career NHL games. He has played for Arizona, Toronto, Carolina, Pittsburgh, Nashville and Dallas. Arizona selected him in the fourth round, 117th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Philadelphia made the signing after opening the season 0-2-2 and being outscored 17-5, including a 4-1 loss in Tampa Bay on Monday. The Flyers next play in Ottawa on Thursday, Oct. 8.

In its analysis of the signing, the club described Bunting's intended contribution as forechecking, agitation and secondary scoring. Philadelphia said it would need a roster move to add him to its NHL lineup.
