Fleury Greets Fans at Saint-Boniface Hockeyville Celebration
The retired goaltender stayed for extra greetings ahead of Monday’s Senators-Canadiens preseason game near the Quebec community.
Marc-Andre Fleury greeted fans at the Kraft Hockeyville community celebration outside Arena de Saint-Boniface in Quebec on Sunday. His scheduled one-hour, 45-minute meet-and-greet could not accommodate everyone in line, and the retired goaltender stopped for more photos as he left, according to NHL.com.
The visit came ahead of Monday's Ottawa Senators-Montreal Canadiens preseason game at Colisee Videotron in Trois-Rivieres, the concluding event of the community's Hockeyville celebration. Fleury grew up in nearby Sorel and said he was happy to return and see the local children and families.
Fleury retired after 21 NHL seasons. His 575 wins and 1,051 games played both rank second among goaltenders in league history, behind Martin Brodeur. He entered the QMJHL Hall of Fame on Sept. 17.
