Flames sign Alex Nylander to one-year, two-way contract

Calgary signs the forward after a professional tryout and a 53-point, Calder Cup-winning season with the Toronto Marlies.

The Calgary Flames signed forward Alex Nylander to a one-year, two-way contract on Friday after inviting him to training camp on a professional tryout. The club listed the deal at a $850,000 average annual value.

Nylander had 24 goals and 29 assists for 53 points in 65 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies last season. He played in all 24 of their playoff games, scoring six goals as Toronto won the 2026 Calder Cup.

The 28-year-old has 49 points, including 25 goals, in 126 NHL games across five clubs. The Flames’ announcement lists his birth date as March 2, 1998.
