Flames blow two-goal lead, fall to Kraken in shootout
Aydar Suniev scored for Calgary, but Seattle erased a 3-1 deficit and won 4-3 in a shootout on Thursday.
The Calgary Flames lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Seattle Kraken on Thursday after surrendering a two-goal lead in the third period of their preseason game. Calgary dressed a lineup made up mostly of players from its AHL ranks.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period. Rory Kerins and Aydar Suniev scored in the second to put Calgary ahead 3-1. It was Suniev's third goal in two preseason games.
Brandon Montour and Ryker Evans scored in the third to bring Seattle level. The Kraken then won the shootout.
Devin Cooley played the full game in Calgary's net, making 23 saves on 26 shots. The Flames close their preseason schedule against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
