Firebirds and Canucks run it back Sunday in Abbotsford
Coachella Valley returns to Rogers Forum after allowing six second-period goals in Saturday’s 7-3 loss.

The Coachella Valley Firebirds have a quick chance to respond to a 7-3 loss when they face the Abbotsford Canucks again Sunday, Oct. 18, at Rogers Forum. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.
Abbotsford scored six times in the second period Saturday, the most Coachella Valley has allowed in a period in franchise history, according to the Firebirds’ recap. The Canucks outshot them 40-24.
Ryden Evers and Julius Miettinen scored their first professional goals for Coachella Valley. Logan Morrison also scored, converting on the power play. Tyson Jugnauth recorded two assists and reached 10 for the season, which the Firebirds said led the AHL.
The Firebirds used both goaltenders in the loss: Victor Östman made 20 saves before Nikke Kokko stopped 13 in relief. Inside The Rink lists both in its projected lineup for Sunday.
The rematch concludes Abbotsford’s two-game home-opening weekend. Coachella Valley then visits San Diego on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
