Eichel reaches 700 points as Vegas beats Chicago in Craig's debut

Jack Eichel had a goal and two assists in the Golden Knights’ 5-2 season-opening win over the Blackhawks.

Jack Eichel reached 700 career NHL points as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday, Ryan Craig's first game as Vegas coach.

Eichel set up Victor Olofsson's power-play opener at 10:30 of the first period, then scored at 15:12 of the second to reach 700. He assisted on Mark Stone's third-period goal to finish with a goal and two assists.

Trevor Connelly scored in his NHL debut, while Noah Hanifin also scored for Vegas. Carter Hart made 24 saves. Craig took over as head coach after three seasons leading the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights.

Jordan Greenway and Patrick Kane scored for Chicago. Kane's goal in his first game back with the Blackhawks made it 3-2 early in the third, but Hanifin answered 39 seconds later. Spencer Knight made 32 saves.
