Ducks set opening roster with seven players 22 or younger
Anaheim’s 25-player group includes a first-round pick from each of its last five drafts; Troy Terry begins on injured non-roster.
The Anaheim Ducks named a 25-player season-opening roster Monday, with 16 forwards, seven defencemen and two goaltenders.
Nikita Klepov, Anaheim's 15th overall pick in June, made the roster at 18. He joins first-round Ducks picks from each of the preceding four drafts: Roger McQueen, Beckett Sennecke, Leo Carlsson and Pavel Mintyukov. Seven players on the roster are 22 or younger: Klepov (18), McQueen (19), Sennecke (20), Carlsson (21), Cutter Gauthier (22), Tristan Luneau (22) and Mintyukov (22).
Offseason additions A.J. Greer, Jeff Malott and Nick Jensen are also on the roster. Troy Terry was placed on injured non-roster after hip surgery, while Ian Moore was placed on injured reserve.
Before finalizing the roster, Anaheim assigned defenceman Travis Mitchell and goaltender Laurent Brossoit to the San Diego Gulls. The Ducks open their season at the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. PT.
