Dorofeyev’s Connecticut Training Eases Rangers Arrival

Pavel Dorofeyev has decided to make Connecticut his full-time home as he begins his New York Rangers tenure. The winger spent the past four summers renting there to train at Prentiss Hockey in Stamford, NHL.com reported Sunday, Sept. 20. He had considered living in New York City after the Rangers acquired him from Vegas in June.

Those summers also gave him a head start with his new teammates. Dorofeyev trained alongside J.T. Miller, Matt Rempe, Gabe Perreault and Adam Fox this offseason and skated with Scott Morrow. Fox told NHL.com that time around the group helped build familiarity during a shortened camp.

Early in camp, Dorofeyev has been skating at left wing with Miller at center and fellow newcomer Oliver Bjorkstrand on the right. Coach Mike Sullivan said he wants to see how Miller’s playmaking and Dorofeyev’s scoring work together. The Rangers open the regular season at Boston on Sept. 29.

Dorofeyev, 25, scored 37 goals for the Golden Knights in 2025-26, including 20 on the power play. The power-play total ranked second in the NHL, according to the Rangers. New York acquired him in exchange for three draft picks and later signed him to a seven-year, $77 million contract. An August report by The Hockey News had already described his Prentiss workouts; the new development is his decision to settle in Connecticut full-time.
