Devils to close pre-season against Islanders as Lombardi seeks roster spot

New Jersey’s Saturday finale gives Amadeus Lombardi another chance on the fourth-line wing.

The New Jersey Devils will finish their pre-season on Saturday against the New York Islanders on Long Island. The clubs are scheduled to face off at 7:38 p.m. ET.

New Jersey’s official game preview says one fourth-line wing position remains open. Amadeus Lombardi is expected to skate with Cody Glass and Connor Brown in his third pre-season game, giving him another chance to earn a place on the NHL roster.

Lombardi played centre against the Rangers on Thursday. The Devils plan to use him on the wing against the Islanders as they assess his versatility.
